A few years from now, Earth will have the first contact with an alien civilisation. These aliens, known as Newcomers, slowly begin to be integrated into human society after years of quarantine but are victims of a new type of discrimination. When the first Newcomer police officer, Sam Francisco is assigned his new partner, he is given Matthew Sykes, a mildly racist veteran, the animosity between them soon gives way to respect as they investigate the Newcomer underworld, and especially Newcomer leader William Harcourt. James Caan, Mandy Patinkin.

"Pilot"
As resentment toward the Newcomers builds, Matt Sikes and George Francisco investigate a string of murders that appears to be the work of a giant, insect-like creature that Purists claim is connected to the Newcomeers, and Matt receives information from his dead former partner that may lead to and uncover a greater evil.

"Fountain Of Youth"
A pair of surgeons have been killing Newcomers for their spartiary glands and implanting the life-lengthening glands into humans.

George and Matt go undercover to investigate a prostitution ring, and George's uncle Moodri, a Tenctonese Elder, convinces Buck to face up to and confess to a killing Buck had committed in self-defense.

Matt and George struggle to cope with both their respective rebellious children and each other while simultaneously trying to protect a sex-crazed witness from a mobster.

As Halloween approaches, a series of grisly murders is patterned after the mythical Tagdot, a Tenctonese boogeyman who severs the hands of his victims as they bleed to death.

"Contact"
In the wake of an astronomer's murder, George and Matt must prevent an Overseer from sending a signal into space which could result in Earth's enslavement.

"Three To Tango"
Someone has been murdering Binnaums, a unique caste of Newcomers required in Tenctonese procreation, putting staionhouse janitor (and binnaum) Albert Einstein in grave danger, and Sikes and George fear it is the work of Purists intent on preventing Newcomers from multiplying. Also, the Franciscos make plans for a third child.

George is forced to confront his past when a Russian Roulette-style game once played on the slave ship resurfaces to plague Newcomer society.

George goes undercover to track down a murderous female Newcomer who has been using a dating service and a Tenctonese love drug called Sardonak to lure victims, while Matt must deal with the attentions of a male Newcomer who has taken Sardonak but fallen for Matt instead.

"Eyewitness News"
While George's being featured on a news show special as a model Newcomer starts going to his head, Matt investigates an attack on a Tenctonese porno star.

"Partners"
When George is implicated in a scandal involving the disappearance on his watch of several kilos of an illegal narcotic known as "Jack", it is up to Matt to clear him ... an effort that strikes close to Matt. Also, the Francisco family prepares for the transference of the pod from Susan to George.

Sikes and a pregnant George track a thief who is stealing Newcomer blood to sell Tenctonese hormones to human bodybuilders.

Following a life-after-death experience, Matt is convinced that a Tenctonese criminal has the ability to bring the dead back to life.

George's investment in a Tenctonese fabric company is jeopardized when one of the firm's corporate executives meets with foul play, Buck protests against worker exploitation at the firm's factory, and Matt sells one of his lottery tickets to Albert ... only to see him win.

"The Touch"
Cathy is reunited with a boy from the Newcomer slave ship, but when he exhibits bizarre behaviour and appears emotionally troubled, she goes beyond the law in her attempts to intervene.

Matt and Cathy struggle with their romantic feelings for one another, while George and Matt's partnership/friendship may implode due to George's promotion over Matt and a plot to exterminate the Tenctonese race via a deadly bacteria unfolds.

Dark Horizon was written to be the season opener for the second season, but when the series was unexpectedly canceled and looked like it might never return to television, the plot was published as a book. Finally, four years later (after a change in management at Fox), Alien Nation: Dark Horizon (original airdate: October 25, 1994) appeared as a television movie to pick up where the popular television series left off.

Alien Nation: Body and Soul
(original airdate: October 10, 1995) was the second television movie produced to continue the story after the premature cancellation of the popular series. It follows the television series format of two parallel storylines. The first plot is about a seemingly human/Tenctonese hybrid child and an evil Dr. Josef Mengele-like Overseer scientist. The sub-plot is the budding relationship between Matt Sikes and his Tenctonese neighbor Dr. Cathy Frankel. The relationship between Matt and Cathy was an ongoing theme of the Alien Nation television series.

Alien Nation: Millennium (original airdate: January 2, 1996) was the third television movie produced to continue the story after the premature cancellation of the popular series. The plot follows human detective Matthew Sikes and his Tenctonese partner George Francisco as they investigate a cult that is using a mind-altering Tenctonese artifact to lure followers into a deadly cult. The artifact used in this movie was the same one from Alien Nation episode Generation to Generation.

Alien Nation: The Enemy Within (original airdate: November 12, 1996) is the fourth television movie produced to continue the story after the premature cancellation of the popular series. In this movie, detective Matthew Sikes and his Tenctonese partner George Francisco investigate a group of Tenctonese called the Eenos. The sub-plot involves Tenctonese binnaum Albert Einstein and his new bride May attempting to have a child (with George's help) -- a reversal of the Alien Nation episode Three to Tango.

Alien Nation: The Udara Legacy (original airdate: July 29, 1997) was the fifth and final television movie produced to continue the story of the prematurely canceled television series. The plot introduces the idea that among the Tenctonese slaves, there was a resistance movement called the Udara who were implanted with hypnotic suggestions to act as sleeper agents. Now, here on Earth, someone has found a way to activate these sleeper agents, and send them out as assassins.
